Added on-device OCR so text inside images can become searchable, including text from screenshots, captured error messages, whiteboards, and other text-heavy visuals.
Tagging
Added local image tagging signals that help Image Gallery surface relevant images when users search for visual context.

Added AI-powered image search so users can find images by the text and context detected inside them, instead of relying only on message metadata.

Image Gallery 1.0.0 is the first launch baseline for the Microsoft Teams app. It introduces chat and channel image galleries, a personal app experience, filters, context badges, full screen viewing, and Microsoft 365-aware access controls. AI Image Search is tracked separately in the 1.1.9 entry.
Chat tabs
Added Image Gallery as a Teams tab for chats so users can browse the images shared in a specific conversation.
Channel tabs
Added channel gallery support so teams can review shared images from channel conversations in a focused visual view.
Inline images
Added support for images sent directly in Teams messages, not only files stored through OneDrive or SharePoint.
Microsoft 365 files
Added support for Teams images backed by Microsoft 365 storage, including OneDrive and SharePoint file locations the signed-in user can access.
